#781 (tap) – OpenVPN Community Hello, I've been having the same problem in ticket 592 since yesterday, while trying to update the TAP driver (9.21.2). I did post a comment over there, but the version is newer and it does not seem to have been solved, so I thought I'd submit a new ticket.
IPSec for the VPN. It doesn't seem to happen every time I try to connect but definitely happens more than it did on other firmware. I'd say it works 20% of the time on an 844. I haven't tried switching bands but I'll see if that helps tonight. In testing, just swapping out the 844 for any other brand fixes the problem, same PC, same VPN.
Cannot connect to a VPN server - authentication failed I had this problem so I'll go ahead and tell you what it was for me. My password (given to us by our host had a $ in it). I was copy-pasting the password from an rdp shell script that had escaped the $ with a \.I was mentally forgetting the reason for \ and thinking it was literal. I spent hours working on authentication when in reality, I need only remove the back-slash escaping of the dollar VPN Connection Trouble between 2 linksys BEFVP41 routers OK, so I will take the Windows VPN software out of the picture. Now when I'm in the router config VPN settings, I've kept the defaults, both my tunnels name are the same, encryption is DES, authentication is SHA, group is 768 bits, key managemetn is auto/IKE, using the same pre-shared key.
